AGEM EVENTS!

  • Mississippi State University will host the third annual IMPETUS-PGE weekend on April 18 and 19, 2008. The primary goal of the program is to increase the number of master’s and doctoral degrees that are awarded in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) areas in the state of Mississippi.

IMPETUS-PGE will fulfill this goal by empowering undergraduate juniors and seniors to pursue graduate education at Mississippi State University or another institution. During the course of the program, participants will receive information about the process of applying to graduate school, locating funding sources, and completing graduate studies as a successful student. Participants will also tour the campus and visit academic departments, laboratories, and classrooms in their areas of interest.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to converse with current graduate students and graduate faculty who can share their experiences at Mississippi State University. These sessions are designed to illustrate to students how important a graduate degree in one of the STEM areas is to increase the career opportunities in academia, government, or industry and strengthen the nation as a whole in this technologically-driven world.

As the “People’s University” and the largest public university in the state of Mississippi, we can offer graduate education with diversity and commitment to learning, research, and service. Please consider participating in the IMPETUS-PGE Program, even if you decide not to attend Mississippi State University. It is our hope that you will participate and become empowered to pursue graduate education
